Mine – Poem by T Wiley

Mine by Tom Wiley

I find myself
In a collapsed mine

By the way I came
I must return
Through titanic labors

I take up each stone
That had comprised
My passage

Grasping, I raise it
To my breast
Turning, I set it behind

To undo all done
Is too profound
I fall

I pant
In desperate snatches
Listen! Hear my lungs heave

Gazing
At a sheer wall
I now wait

Salvation is
No simple job
Of mine
